چکیده

Although much theoretical research has been devoted to coordination over the three last decades, this phenomenon remains a major challenge for linguistic theory and all formalisms of natural language processing. Moreover, the research models used claim to encompass the various forms coordination can take. In French the coordinating conjunction et (and) appears to be the tenth most frequently used. Grévisse and Goosse (1993) define coordination as an explicit or implicit relation which links elements of the same sort: sentences, or linguistic units which have the same function. It is expressed explicitly by markers (of coordination) which are in fact conjunctions, such as mais (but), ou (or), et (and), donc (therefore), ni (nor), car (because), or (but). In this article, we focus entirely on the marker et. The coordinated elements are generally of the same nature and fulfill the same function (In example (vii), coordination is non-distributive. The statement does not

Some Arguments for Coordination in Categorial Grammar and Combinatory Logic

Despite of the large amount of theoretical work done on coordination during the last three decades, many researches still interested in proving that such model has the widest coverage or the other is better. In our article we will present different coordination constructions in French (with using the conjunction et (and)). We will show how processing accounts can be described in terms of Applic...

The Categorial Annotation of Coordination in Arabic

The model of categorial grammars is a sufficiently flexible model to give an account of several languages and several forms of organisation of the linguistic units of these languages (coordination, subordination, etc). However, the research tasks were limited almost exclusively to European languages. A language like Arabic, in spite of the richness of the tradition of its schools of thought, wh...

Korean Parsing Based on the Applicative Combinatory Categorial Grammar

The Applicative Combinatory Categorial Grammar (ACCG) is a new approach to Categorial Grammars by using exclusively the Combinatory Logic. This extended categorial grammar that was originally developed by J.-P. Desclés and I. Biskri, allows us to tackle the problem of the Korean language parsing in which there exist many difficulties from a computational point of view. In this paper, we handle ...

Categorial Grammars, Combinatory Logic and the Korean Language Processing

In this paper we propose a new approach to Categorial Grammars based on Combinatory Logic to solve some syntactic and semantic problems in the Korean language processing. We handle particularly the problems of cases, free word order structure and coordination by developing a formalism of the extended Categorial Grammar that was originally introduced by J.-P. Desclés, and I. Biskri. We call this...

Applicative and Combinatory Categorial Grammar and Subordinate Constructions in French

In this article we will present a classification and an analysis, by means of Applicative and Combinatory Categorial Grammar (ACCG), of relative, completive and indirect interrogative propositions in French introduced by ”que” and ”qui”. Applicative and Combinatory Categorial Grammar is a generalization of standard Categorial Grammar. It is represented by a canonical association between Steedma...

The Operational Annotation and the Analysis of the Correlative Coordination in French

Despite extensive theoretical work carried out on coordination during the last three decades, much research is still devoted to proving the merits of one model over another. In our article, we will show how the coordination process in French (with using the conjunction et (and)) can be explained through Applicative and Combinatory Categorial Grammar (ACCG). We, especially, describe the analysis...
